It's official: The Commuter office and Student Leadership Union have teamed up to help promote events, student opportunities, campus happenings, and more! You've already met the commuter's team, so here are the members of the SLC who keep its wheels a-turnin'.

Hannah Briggs [president], Dylan Marches [vice president], Angie Geno [legislative affairs], William Shields [campus outreach coordinator], and Serenity Wilson [executive assistant]. Stay tuned for next week's edition to hear a bit about this Student Voice Committee.

At the SLC’s Student Voice Committee weekly meeting, they discussed their goals for this academic year; increasing communication between students, staff, and faculty; and planning more service projects such as adopt-a-park for cleanup, beach cleanup, on-campus bottle-drop, and more. They are here to connect with LB's large community in valuable ways, along with many other plans for the future such as events and fundraisers.

If you’re interested in attending these events, projects, or volunteer work, Noble Hour is where to go to sign up and to see any upcoming activities, both within LBCC and the community. Check out their website at https://www.noblehour.com/linnbenton

Additionally, the Student Leadership Council has many opportunities to earn tuition credits, meet other students, help out, and learn new things. The SLC also currently has two available internship positions for first-year attendees; one position will be a general internship and the other is as a Legislative Affairs intern. You can earn up to three tuition credits! If you’re interested in joining the team, visit the SLC and ask!

December holds elections for vice president and president positions. After they are elected be sure to look out for new job opportunities throughout January and February, which is when elections for other SLC positions are held.

This term, a few activities include Tuesday Trivia, which is held during school weeks two-six at 6pm over zoom. Here is the link https://linnbenton.zoom.us/j/95160504312, which can also be found in ‘Rob Camps Weekly Student News, Events, Activities, and Engagements’ emails that are sent out to all student emails.

Also join the Active Minds Workshop club every Wednesday from 12:30pm-1:30pm. Active Minds aims to connect with people and have an open table discussion on mental health, seeking to destigmatize it, where they offer general support. The next meeting will be held over zoom at https://linnbenton.zoom.us/j/93114028517.
